Don’t knock anyone that says it’s hard to maintain or even start a regular routine; because the truth is, it’s hard. Working out, maintaining a healthy regimen of exercise either at home or at a gym, or even a regular jog or bike route, is difficult to fit in especially if you’re dealing with work priority and family and other such things. Sometimes people have a hard time finding five minutes to do any kind of exercise. It’s true!
There is a way to make it a priority without losing your other important life points, though.
Lord knows that when you take fifteen minutes out of your time to do a few crunches or some yoga, you might miss out on paying that important utility bill because the office already closed, or some errands were missed because these other errands needed to be taken care of. It makes sense. Know this, though: if you make it a part of your lifestyle…. Not your routine…. You stand a better chance of keeping your health and fitness a major priority.
How do you do that, though? It’s simple. You like doing fun things, right? Like going to the movies, or hanging out with the kids at a park? Or shopping? Don’t deny it: it’s obvious you make time for it. If you want to maintain health and fitness, incorporate it in your life without sacrificing anything. If you’re at the park, use techniques that allow you to actually work out while with your kids. Or if you’re shopping, set aside some time to “power walk” while listening to your iPod. Lighten up on the movie watching (either at home with a rental or at the cinema) and instead go with your spouse or friend to the gym and continue to set up a day where you do that and only that! Weekends are good, too.
It’s about you. Not necessarily about your body. Don’t do it for your body. Do it for you. Let it be about your lifestyle. Make it a part of yourself.
