Digital hearing aids have become state-of-the-art over the last several years. Many companies are using this technology to improve hearing aids over their analog predecessors. Although digital isn’t necessarily superior, it does allow new hearing aids to be created that have enhanced features.

Digital hearing aids come in many different types and styles, and are made from different levels of technology.

Behind-the-Ear (BTE)

BTE scan be hidden so no one knows you’re wearing it. You’ll be able to adjust the volume by using the controller located behind your ear. They offer a secure fit with flexibility, and are good for people who need to adjust the volume regularly.

Open Fit Behind-the-Ear

These are smaller, nearly invisible, and work via a clear tube coming off of the device that rests in your ear canal.  There is no ear mold that can occlude the ear canal and are good for increasing hard-to-hear sounds.

Contour

These offer more features and options than smaller hearing aids do, and are good for those who are bothered by wearing an aid behind their ear.

Cosmetic

These hearing aids are virtually invisible and placed directly in the ear canal, hiding the fact that you’re wearing one at all.

Low Level Digital Technology

These will amplify all sounds to a certain level, similar to analog aids, and are good for those that have trouble hearing everything around them.

Middle Level Digital Technology

These will amplify soft sounds over loud sounds and allow a wider range of volumes, allowing you to adjust to the level you need.

High End

These will pick up specific voices and eliminate feedback; perfect for when you’re in a crowd.
