Be a Muscle Jerk Today!

This has got to be one of the only posts where you absolutely will not do what the title says due to the implication and subject matter. Seriously, don’t; the ramifications will be too serious for your mind to comprehend. While the concept of muscle training generally promotes overall health and such, there are some that go way too far–hence the term, “muscle jerk.” You might find a few in places like the wrestling ring, the baseball diamond, the green gridiron, or the basketball court. They’re so defined that you could stick pieces of rock right inside the crevices of their muscular curves and seconds later get diamonds out of them. That’s how cut they are–cut like diamonds. Unfortunately, these ‘diamonds’ don’t last long.

This is about steroids–the horrifying truth behind some of the side effects and the not-so-beneficial trade-off. Yes, you get the ripped muscles you’ve always wanted without much work done, but the long-term could possibly kill you. Some of the side effects would be general aggression, sterility, Gynocomastia (enlarged breasts), heart attack, stroke, even death. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist, or even a pharmacist, to know that you definitely don’t want to play around with something like that.

Know that it’s an issue of abuse. That’s not to say you can’t use steroids and never experience any unwanted side effects. The fact is there are certain medications that are actually steroids, such as Advair for sufferers of Asthma. Its the mindset and goal athletes have and need to excel in the profession, whatever it may be. It’s the stress, the expectations, the need to stand above the rest on the field, the court, the diamond, the ring. These athletes absolutely have to stay on top of everything–which can lead to serious abuse and definitely has in this history of anabolic steroid use.

So be careful. If you’re an athlete pressured into performance, be well informed of some of the options you may have for enhancing your physical attribute. Make sure, though, whatever you do, to not be a muscle jerk today.
